What will your legacy be?

What will your legacy be? Kurt Angle Official BlogWhat will your legacy be? How do you want to be remembered when you’re gone?

I think about my legacy quite a bit. Do I want to be remembered as a good wrestler, an Olympic Gold Medalist, or as one of the all time greats in pro-wrestling? Sure I do; but do those things leave an everlasting impression that truly matters? It seems like we have put fame and material things on a pedestal in our lives, but what kind of legacy would you leave if you had all the money and fame in the world, but nobody liked you, or cared about you?

After my mother passed, I realized what an impact she made on others’ lives. She was absolutely loved by so many people, and I never met one human being that didn’t like my mom. Being loved for the person you are and not what you accomplish means so much more in life. Knowing how many loved my mom made me think about how I treat others and how others feel about me. Do others like me? Do they love me? Not me the wrestler, but me the person.

To those I’ve disrespected or treated wrongly, I truly apologize. I take full responsibility for my actions. But you can’t take back what’s in the past, so from this day forward, I know how I want to be remembered. I know what I want my legacy to be. I want to be remembered as a loyal husband, a loving father, and a good friend. I want others to say I was a good man and I was respectful. I want others to say they loved me, not just me the wrestler, but me the person. I want others to say I made an everlasting impression on them because of the person I was. That’s what I want my legacy to be!
