For the greater good

Do something for the greater good-Kurt Angle BlogI’m sure that you have seen the news by now. Ten students are dead and many wounded from an incident that occurred today in Oregon. I am praying for all of the victims and their families.

It seems like these incidents are happening more often today. The headlines are disturbing, a woman posted a Snapchat of her boyfriend pointing a gun at her and was found dead a few hours later, a 16 year old student shot his high school principal (and could have done worse if not tackled by other school staff!), and this is just in the last 3 days!

What can we do to prevent this? How can we protect each other and our children?

The best thing we can do to try to stop these attacks is to attack back as quickly as we can. I don’t mean that should all try to be heroes and put ourselves in harm’s way like the high school staff in yesterday’s high school incident, but I do mean that we need to keep our eyes and ears open to anything that is suspicious. Reporting a post on social media or someone that says something disturbing to you or a friend can possibly prevent a harmful or even fatal situation.

Contact the police, school counselor, principal, or other authority about anything that looks potentially harmful. Even if a person didn’t mean to say what they did, contact an authority figure about it, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

We have a scary world to live in and the only thing we can do is help and support each other. We need to look out for one another and understand that there are some people that want to do harm. But, there are more of us that want to do good! Let’s make sure that we do this for each other, and for the greater good. It’s damn true.
